3 Rules to Building Any Online Business

3 Rules to Building Any Online Business
By Ian The Tailgate Marketer Hopfe

This info is good for any online business or program you may be a part of or thinking of joining/starting.

1) If you market something make sure you paid for it first.

People always hate hearing this first rule because they want to make money online for free and that is just not possible you will have to spend some money. How can people take you seriously and trust you if YOU don't even use your own product, service or program. Pay the fees, upgrade your account, and work the system that governs your product, services, or program.

You must build credibility, build trust, and spend money to make money. Most importantly about this is that YOU will know your product, service, or program is real and works because you don't want to find out you have been marketing a scam.

2) Generate as much traffic to your website as you can.

Some of this traffic you can build for free but free traffic is not targeted traffic and you will need a lot more of it to get the same results. Other traffic will cost you a lot of money to generate but it may make you broke in a very short time if it's not quality targeted traffic. Still some traffic will be relatively cheap but take months or longer before it builds. You will need to work on all three types to get the right formula needed to sell your product, service, or program. The main ways of generating traffic are:

Search Engine Paid-per-click (PPC)– This is paying for ads on search engines like Google.

Article Writing and Submitting – These are short 500 word articles written by you about your product, service, program, or anything you want that have info about you and links to your website. You will submit these to article databases, other websites, and e-zines so they have free content.

Traffic Exchanges (TE , Paid to click PTC, Paid to read PTR)– These are free websites were you get paid a few cents to visit other peoples website. Traffic Exchanges attract a lot of people trying get free info and make free money. You will pay to have other people visit your site at up to ten of these websites.

Viral Marketing – This is when you write an original e-book and you have links in the e-book directing people back to your website. Normally, this would be a free giveaway to get people to join your e-mail list.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – This is more technical and it entails having plenty of relevant content on your website not just links to other website (you programs), HTML Meta tags on your webpages that have proper keywords and descriptions, webpages that have proper HTML titles, a lot of traffic, AND links from important/high rated websites to your website.

Forum Posting – Now this isn't just posting random links to your products this is quality participation in the forum. Find a free forum dedicated to the topic of your marketing program and participate on a long term basis. As you help people for free giving advice and making friends you make sure you have a link to your marketing website in your signature file. Every time you make a post you gain trust and people will start clicking your links.

3) Teach the people who buy or join your product, service, or program...AKA List Building and Follow ups.

These people trusted you enough to spend money on you so the least you can do is respect them for that. If you have a program were you recruit people under you in a downline then teach them about the business AND teach them these 3 rules! If the person only bought a product or service off of you follow up with them to make sure they are happy. In both cases make sure they are on your personal marketing list! Building your double-opt-in list is the backbone of building long term continual one time sales and residual income online. If you can you should be driving people to your list before you even try to sell them anything. So if they don't like your product, service, or program then you can still send them e-mails in the future about new things you are trying to market.

You will need to setup an e-mail autoresponder where they signup to your list, their e-mail is verified, you may send them something for free (maybe an e-book), then they get directed to a page of your choice. Send them to your marketing website and if they buy something off of you have them redirected to another one of your marketing websites with a higher priced product, service, or program. Setup your autoresponder to send them a new e-mail every few days giving them free info and links to more of your products, services, or programs.

You can even give them side deals like you will pay them $5 to join a program were you will make $20 of what they buy. When your list is hundreds or thousands of people long you could send out one e-mail to sell a product and make hundreds of dollars in a few minutes! Don't over use your list 1 or 2 e-mails a week is a lot, you don't want people to opt-out because you're e-mailing them 10 times a day. When your list gets large you could start selling ad space on your weekly e-mail to make even more extra money.

To help attract people to your list you should market your product but you can also give something away in your first e-mail to them after joining your list. Write an article or e-book about your product or service and excite them about getting free stuff!

If you don't have anything of your own to give away right now I give you permission to giveaway, reprint, or e-mail this article as long as you give credit where credit is do and do not alter it in any way. It is my belief that the honest person will always win in the end so I'm trusting you to do the right thing. Help me, help you become rich!

New Tattoo Designs Affiliate Page I Built!

So...Since I'm a PayDotCom Affiliate I decided to see how I could better market the products. I have been looking for something some product that would market well on say Facebook.

I have about 300 friends on Facebook and many of them are into tattoos and piercings and such. I on the hand think its cool but way to scared to get one! I keep thinking of my grand kids in like 50 years seeing me with a giant naked lady on my chest...and it don't look like grandma! lol

Anywhoo, so after joining PayDotCom you can click the Sell Products tab at the top and search the Marketplace. In the Marketplace you will see/find the listings of every product/service that other people are selling. If you search for a topic you should find a few. So my search for tattoo brought up 9 I think. I wanted to sell all of them and not just one so I would have a better chance of makeing a sale. Also, I have a few other links that would work well with this type of thing.

So I built a webpage with HTML Frames. I have my intro page and I make it look like I own the rest of the products that load into the middle frame of the website! I added 3 Google ads because thats the max you can have on one page AND this will make me a few cents a click if I don't have what visitors want.

I also added a link that opens in a new window asking people to join my online marketing lsit. I try to market my list all the time now because there is nothing like a group of people that know and trust you when it comes to trying to make a sale or build a downline.

Finally I added a link at the bottom advertising for women to help show off their tattoos...aka link to nip*le covers! Since I am marketing to an "exciting" and "interesting" group of people that last link is fine...I think! lol

Oh yeah...I also bought the rights to a cool looking troll/ogre looking graphic to help brand the site!

After putting it all together I almost forgot the rule about having your own content and not just links to other websites. So I Googled tattoo articles and found an article submission website to get some free content. Posting/reprinting other peoples articles about your topic is fine as long as you leave all links and bio info of the author in them.

Think about writing your own 500 word or less articles to submit. You have to be an expert in something? When you first start marketing online your articles don't even have to be about what you're marketing just make sure your personal website and bio info is listed!

I have started a marketing campaign on Facebook directed at people in the US under 50 with the word tattoo in their interests. Thats about 40 thousand people who will see my ad evey day! Be careful when marketing on Facebook their minimum daily budget is $5 so it can add up fast. I only pay per click not per impression and if the person only looks but clicks one of the Google ads I may brake even on that click.

So the finished product is located on my marketing website server at

Go check it out and see if you could build something like that!
