Components of a good splash page or sales site

What are some of the components of a good splash page or sales site?

1. Sales Copy – The point is to convince someone they need your product or service. I'm not the best sales copy writer in the world BUT if you're on this list my must be ok at least. Things to think about when you write your sales copy: limited time, markdown in price, testimonials, good pictures/graphics, long guarantee window as 90 day as apposed to a 30 day, and sell the dream not the product or service!

2. Structure – Splash page has to fit your message in one page above the fold & only have a few pictures/graphics so it will be fast loading. If you add an Auto Responder e-mail sign up to the page your splash page now becomes a Capture Page! Sales sites should not be used in traffic exchanges because they see your page for 5-30 seconds and that’s not enough time for people to read a large page. The idea of a Splash or capture page is to get people from the traffic exchange to visit your site and read your sales copy when they have time. It's actually MORE important to get people to join your e-mail list then to buy the product or service you are marketing right now. My favorite auto responder and e-mail list product is Aweber they have a great tool for building e-mail sign up boxes to your pages. Checkout there services out a http://memberservices.aweber.com

3. Pictures or Graphics – Any good splash page, capture page, or sales page has some of these. You don't want to steal graphics or photos from other sites because you can get into some big trouble. I have heard of online marketers using a celebrity's picture to market something and they got sued! Keep it on the up and up! Make your own graphics or take a few of your photos and use them. Not all of us can make graphics or maybe your don't have a camera! You can buy some Royalty Free pictures and graphics to use on your site. I do this all the time and I even try to reuse them if I can. Royalty Free means you pay for them one time and you get the rights to use them with only a few conditions that really only affect someone printing the pictures more then 10,000 times or something like that. I like the website DreamsTime for my royalty free graphics and photos. If you're on a budget they do also have a collection of free pictures and graphics you can get! Book Review: Cash in a Flash

Cash in a Flash: Real Money in No Time
By Robert G. Allen and Mark Victor Hansen

This is a book about how easy it is to make money if you can get into the right mind set.

Like many “How to make money” books there is always a large mindset and attitude element. The basics behind this book is that you need to be in the right mental space before you can excel in business. You could have all the ideas in the world but if you don't have the mental ability to work your ideas you will struggle.

Although not as good as their first book “The One Minute Millionaire” they do show several ways to make money both online and offline. In “Cash in a Flash” the main character Michelle Erickson from the “The One Minute Millionaire” returns but now she is the mentor helping her group of unlikely friends to make money and overcome life's troubles.

I love following the story line of this book but it is written in a two books in one format. So, if you want to read a story about how to make money you can but if you just want the “How to” version of the book you can also. Depending on the type of learner you are you can take something away from this book.

I give this book 3 out of 5.

My New Website Got Hacked!

My New Website Got Hacked!

So I have had a fun few weeks...

Two of my sites got hacked http://www.npndownlinebuilder.com and http://www.leveragebuilder.com

I have been running NPNDownlineBuilder.com for a few months now but LeverageBuilder.com is a new site I was working on. After the hack I changed all my passwords and had to reload the websites.

I'm not sure how much down time there was on the sites. Could have been all day before I checked them to work on the new site. I really hope this doesn't happen again as I have spoken to the hosting company and all that jazz.

NEW WEBSITE

Well the hack thing was not suppose to be the big news!

LeverageBuilder.com is now up and running!

The idea is this...

1) On the First Level join a bunch of free PTC programs through the links on the site (skip this step for any of the programs you are already a member of),

2) Sign up to LeverageBuilder.com and I will add your referral links to the rotators on the site (use your current referral links if you are already a member in any of the programs),

3) Now you advertise http://www.leveragebuilder.com directly with no funny looking affiliate links and you get a chance for new referrals in all your free programs,

Book Review - The One Minute Millionaire

The One Minute Millionaire: The Enlightened Way to Wealth
by Mark Victor Hansen and Robert G. Allen

This book is a two in one book...

One side of each page is like any typical financial self help type of book BUT the other side of the page is a story of how someone is using the things learned in the book to become rich. It's a very cool concept.

The story part of the book is about a woman that needs to become a millionaire as fast as she can because her life is falling apart. She meets a woman that helps teach her how to become rich. I can't remember how long I think 2 or 3 months is all the time she has and she does it by using two main projects.

She builds a small real estate empire and flips some houses. I love the idea of real estate because you build income two ways. Passive income from rent and capital gains when the market goes up. So you can sell with it's worth more or use you extra equity to buy another property. Even if the housing market stays level or goes low you still make the money from rent.

The other main way for her to make money was to sell a product online! This is a book that got me really interested in online marketing. They made a great product with the help of woman that teaches her about becoming rich. Then she gets a guy to help her build a fully automated website to sell the product. They rent an e-mail list with millions of e-mails on it to send their ad to and in a few minutes they make a pile of money!

This is a good book and I plan to re-read it shortly! You have to read and learn all the time if you want to get into the money making get rich mind set!

All Online Marketers Need to Build a Double Opt-in E-mail List

Building a double opt-in e-mail list should be the number one goal of all online marketers.

To the right side of my blog you can see my sign up page and if you join I will give you a free e-book about online marketing. At the start of all the programs I own I get people to join an e-mail list so I can update them, help them, and recommend things to them.

No matter what business you are trying to build get your prospects onto your list first! People are always changing businesses and not all businesses will appeal to all people. So before someone joins you in a business or buys you may have to show them more then one business.

Having your list is a good way to build trust with people if you give them help all the time. I like to ask people on my list if they need help with their online marketing because that is the demographic I target. I always try to offer help before recommending a program.

Multiple sales can only happen if the customer or prospect is already in your list. I make about 2/3rds of my online money from repeat customers!

The power is in the list IF you have it filled with targeted prospects/customers AND you only recommend related businesses or products. I like to say don't expect a list full of cat lovers to buy dog products!

To build your list you will need a good auto responder. This will cost you some money every month so you need to be ready to pay this for as long as you will be marketing.

I use three different auto responders:

NPN is my favorite auto responder because it's the cheapest at $10.75 per month and you get most of the tools an online marketer needs like ad tracking and splash/capture page creator. NPN also has a great business that's making me over $100 per month on a regular basis.

TrafficWave I have been using because it's integrated into a business I have joined to help with pre-made e-mail messages. It's $17.95 per month but has less tools then NPN. My TrafficWave business has been slowly building and I now make about $40 per month.

Aweber is just an auto responder but it is the best one out there! They have recently improved their service with new capture boxes like the one on the right side of my blog. It is the most expensive at $19 per month and increases according to the size of you list but worth it for the quality. I don't really advertise Aweber because they only pay to the first level of referrals but if you want the quality join!

Book Review - Retire Young Retire Rich

Well I'm a strong believer in learning something new each day and the only way I'm going to learn how to be rich is read. So now and again I will review books that I have read.

Retire Young Retire Rich
by Robert T. Kiyosaki with Sharon R. Lecher

I love all the Rich Dad books I have read so far and this one is good also! I now have a copy next to my computer as a reference.

Learn about habits of the rich in Chapter 14 The Leverage of Habits. OK, I know what you are thinking "Habits are not going to make me rich...step by step plans will." Well, If you don't have the discipline to clean your house when you should, exercise when you should, eat healthy when you should, get work done when you should, or just about anything in your life when you should what makes you think you will stick to a plan to become rich?

Great introduction to Options Trading can be found in Chapter 17 The Leverage of Paper Assets. If you think the advice we get to invest in stocks or mutual funds for the long term, hold, and pray is right then you really need this chapter. Would you drive a car without insurance? Well options are the stock markets equivalent of insurance!
